Volunteers Ride a Carabao Cart to Reach a Remote Barangay
Some communities cannot be reached by vehicle. Last January, a team of AFCMFI volunteers loaded boxes of supplies onto a carabao cart and made their way down a muddy trail to a barangay that regular outreach teams rarely visit.
The trip took longer than expected. The trail was wet from recent rains and the cart moved slowly. But when the team arrived, families were waiting. Children gathered quickly. The volunteers set up a simple medical station, distributed hygiene kits, and spent the afternoon with the community.
Why It Matters
AFCMFI has always believed that the children who are hardest to reach are the ones who need support the most. Distance is not a reason to leave a community behind — it is a reason to plan better and show up anyway.
The carabao cart has become something of a symbol for us. It is slow, unglamorous, and a little impractical — and it gets the job done.
