Programs
All AFCMFI programs are organized under five development areas called the HELPS Framework. Each pillar addresses a different dimension of a child’s growth — from physical health to academic success to life skills and family stability.
H — Health & Hygiene
Healthy children learn better and grow stronger. Our health programs bring basic medical and dental care to children and families who may not otherwise have access.
- Medical and dental missions
- Basic nutrition assistance during program activities
- Hygiene kit distribution
- Health education sessions
E — Education & Academic Support
Staying in school is one of the most important things a young person can do. We support children who are at risk of dropping out and celebrate every step forward.
- Sponsor-a-Child scholarship program
- School supply distribution
- Basic academic support and mentoring
- School retention monitoring
L — Life Skills & Leadership
Beyond academics, young people need practical skills and positive character to navigate adulthood. Our life skills programs help adolescents make good decisions, build discipline, and discover their strengths.
- Values-based clubs (including AWANA)
- Sports programs — Ballers for Christ (basketball), FaithServes Badminton
- Financial literacy sessions
- Career orientation activities
- Goal-setting workshops
P — Parenting & Protection
Children grow best in stable homes. We support parents and caregivers with practical tools, education, and awareness — because when parents are strengthened, children flourish.
- Parenting seminars
- Financial management workshops
- Child protection awareness sessions
- Family case monitoring by a licensed social worker
S — Social Engagement & Safe Spaces
Every child needs a safe place to belong. Our social programs create structured, supervised environments where children can learn, play, and build healthy relationships.
- Project LEAP (Learn, Eat, and Play) — a 10-month community-based program combining values formation, structured activities, and meal provision for children ages 6–12
- Youth engagement activities
- Community outreach events
- Supervised recreational spaces
How We Serve
We serve two age groups with tailored approaches:
Younger Children (Ages 4–11)
For younger children, we focus on building a strong foundation: health and hygiene education, school readiness, positive social behavior, and safe supervised environments through Project LEAP.
Older Youth (Ages 13–21)
For older youth, we focus on keeping them on track: academic retention, life skills development, guidance on positive decision-making, sports and leadership clubs, and the Sponsor-a-Child scholarship program.
